BIO-UV GROUP AND TECO TECH SIGN COOPERATION AGREEMENT FOR TURNKEY BALLAST PROJECTS

BIO-UV Group, the pioneer in UV-based water treatment technologies, and Norwegian marine engineering and technical services provider TECO Tech have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at providing shipowners with a complete turnkey solution for the BIO-SEA advanced ballast water treatment system.

The agreement was signed by Xavier Deval, BIO-SEA Business Director, and Tore Enger, CEO of TECO Tech AS at the Nor-Shipping trade show, in Oslo, Norway.

“With a history serving the maritime and offshore industries dating back more than 25-years, TECO is a perfect partner for BIO-UV Group,” said Benoît Gillmann, BIO-UV Group’s President and CEO.

“The cooperation agreement we have signed today fits well with TECO’s strategy of providing a complete suite of environmentally-focussed solutions to the maritime and offshore industries, while providing BIO-SEA with greater exposure to markets in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland, and the cruiseship sector.”

TECO is a specialist in the newbuild and retrofit installation of ballast water treatment systems, as well as Advanced Waste-water Purification Systems (AWP), Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (Scrubbers) and refrigeration equipment. The company carries out much of the pre-installation and commissioning work while vessels are in service so as to minimise shipyard costs and off-hire time.

Under the agreement, TECO is able to strengthen its “green” equipment range with full turnkey BWTS solution for its customers, including all engineering and pre-installation work to system installation, commissioning, sea trials and maintenance.

Tore Enger, CEO, TECO Tech, said: “We have been looking to partner with a BWTS manufacturer in order to include a ballast water treatment system as part of our ‘Green Package’ concept and BIO-UV Group’s BIO-SEA system is the perfect solution for us and our customers.

“Based on more than twenty-years’ experience in ultraviolet-based water treatment technology, BIO-UV Group has developed what we believe is the best and most efficient ballast water treatment system on the market. We are very much looking forward to being able to offer BIO-SEA as a turnkey package across all the markets we serve.”

Xavier Deval added: “A key benefit of this agreement is that shipowners and operators now have access to a well-proven ballast water treatment system that incorporates well-proven technology through a single source supplier, capable of facilitating all their technical requirements from drawings through to commissioning.”

Certified for short holding time in freshwater, marine and brackish waters, at full flow, the BIO-SEA ballast water treatment system is fully IMO and USCG type-approved, has proven operationally reliable since its market introduction almost ten-years-ago, is highly efficient in the treatment of ballast waters and is comparatively less complicated to install and operate than other UV-based technologies.

Available as a modular or skid-mounted system, a single BIO-SEA unit is capable of treating ballast waters of all salinity and with flow rates up to 2000m3/h, resulting in cost effective, space-saving ballasting solution.

The BIO-SEA control software also allows operators to switch effortlessly between USCG only, IMO only or IMO & USCG modes and generates reports for Port State Control Authorities, documenting that ballast water treatment operations are compliant and have been performed in accordance with the rules.

BIO-UV Group will be showcasing its zero-holding time BIO-SEA systems at the Nor-shipping trade fair is Oslo, Norway, at booth D06-53.
