BIO-UV Group, a leader in water treatment and disinfection systems, marks its 25th anniversary this year, celebrating a quarter-century of innovation and growth.

Founded in 2000 and now headed by CEO Laurent-Emmanuel Migeon, the group has firmly established itself as a pioneer in advanced water treatment solutions using ultraviolet (UV) light, ozone, salt electrolysis, and advanced oxidation processes (AOP).

With a revenue of €39.6 million reported in 2024, more than half of which was generated internationally, France-headquartered BIO-UV Group operates in over 70 countries and employs more than 160 people.

Laurent-Emmanuel Migeon, CEO of BIO-UV Group, said:

“BIO-UV Group’s 25 years stand as a testament to our dedication and know-how in water treatment.”

“We have evolved, innovated, and expanded internationally to become a reference point across the industry. We are ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges and support our clients with sustainable and efficient water management solutions.”

Since its inception, the company has maintained steady growth, bolstered by a successful acquisition strategy. Going public on Euronext Growth in 2018 enabled the company to raise €10 million initially, followed by two additional capital increases in 2020 and 2025.

Strategic acquisitions have further expanded its technological portfolio and global presence, including the 2019 purchase of triogen®, a Suez subsidiary specialising in ozone and UV solutions, and the 2021 acquisition of Corelec, a French leader in saltwater chlorination.

BIO-UV Group’s operations are organised into three key divisions: Product Sales, Solution Sales, and Services & Aftermarket. This structure enables the group to serve a broad customer base, from residential and commercial pools to municipal and industrial water treatment systems, aquaculture, and ballast water management.

Innovation has always been the core focus for the Group, with landmark developments including the approval by the French Ministry of Health for dechloramination in public pools in 2004; becoming the first and only French manufacturer certified by the International Maritime Organization for ballast water treatment in 2013; and the rapid development of BIO-SCAN, a UV-C surface treatment system, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Recent launches such as the O’CLEAR® residential pool solution, the PPO3 ozone generator, and the modular CUBIQ system for wastewater reuse reflect BIO-UV Group’s commitment to delivering state-of-the-art, sustainable water treatment technologies.

BIO-UV Group designs and manufactures its solutions in France and Scotland, working from facilities in Lunel, Muret, and Glasgow. A €2.2 million expansion at its Lunel headquarters in 2023 enhanced production capacity and reinforced its position as an innovation hub.

The group also prioritises corporate social responsibility, earning ISO 26000 certification in 2024. It aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 5% each year through initiatives such as solar panel installations, sustainable mobility programs, partnerships with disability-friendly organisations, and biodiversity projects.

Looking to the future, BIO-UV Group is building on key strategic partnerships, including an exclusive agreement with Pinnacle Ozone Solutions to open new markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and a partnership with Innovasea to drive growth in North America’s aquaculture sector.

“As we celebrate this milestone, I am deeply grateful to our dedicated employees, partners, and customers who have made our success possible. Looking forward, we are determined to continue innovating, expanding, and leading the way in sustainable water treatment solutions that address the world’s most pressing water challenges.”

With more than 3,000 drinking water and wastewater systems, 800 vessels equipped with BIO-SEA® ballast water treatment, 6,000 public pools, and over 200,000 residential pools and spas using BIO-UV Group solutions, the company continues to lead the way in water treatment – treating about 717m3 million of water in 2024 alone.

Financials:

Product Sales (34% of 2024 revenue, €13.4M): This division involves technologies such as UV, salt electrolysis, ozone, and advanced oxidation processes (AOP). These products are designed for recreational water use in residential and commercial pools, hotel and campsite pools, water parks, and aquariums, primarily serving customers in France and internationally.

Solution Sales (39% of 2024 revenue, €15.3M): This division focuses on comprehensive water treatment projects, including wastewater management, industrial water treatment, ballast water management, and aquaculture. It combines various equipment, technologies (such as UV and ozone), and engineering services. Notably, there is a growing emphasis on projects related to treated wastewater reuse (REUSE) and international aquaculture initiatives.

Services & Aftermarket (27% of 2024 revenue, €10.8M): This segment encompasses after sales services, training, and spare parts across all operations. It generates recurring revenue and bolsters the growth of BIO-UV’s installed base, which exceeds 15,477 systems worldwide.

Notable innovations in BIO-UV Group’s history include:

2004: Received approval from the French Ministry of Health for dechloramination in public swimming pools.

2013: Became the first and only French manufacturer certified by the International Maritime Organization for ballast water treatment systems.

2020 – BIO-SCAN: Introduced BIO-SCAN, the first French-made UV-C surface treatment system, developed in under two months in response to the COVID-19 crisis. This system, certified by two independent laboratories, effectively eliminates bacteria and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2.

2021 – O’CLEAR®: Launched O’CLEAR®, the first residential pool treatment solution that combines UV-C technology with ultra-low salinity salt electrolysis (0.5g/L), providing clear water free of chlorine odor, as well as preventing eye and skin irritation.

2022 – PPO3: Released PPO3, a new positive pressure ozone generator developed by UK subsidiary triogen®. This generator can produce up to 1.2 kg/hour of ozone for water disinfection in aquaculture, industrial settings, and water reuse applications.

2022 – 1001Electrodes®: Established 1001Electrodes®, a brand dedicated to sustainability by extending the life of salt chlorinators through electrode replacement. The website www.1001Electrodes.com features a catalog of over 200 compatible cells from 30 leading brands.

2024 – CUBIQ: Developed CUBIQ, a modular and mobile solution designed for municipalities to reuse treated wastewater using UV technology for various applications, such as urban irrigation and street cleaning.

2025 – AKERON: Unveiled AKERON, a modernized product line featuring new designs, functionalities, and enhanced connectivity, including new salt chlorinators, regulators, and heat pumps for residential pools
