Decarbonising operations to reduce emissions and costs remains top of the agenda at Seawork

The European Onshore Power Supply Association (EOPSA) is supporting Seawork in 2025 with a pavilion in the Associations Hall. Leading the way on decarbonisation through electrification and shore power and supporting the commercial marine industry.

The 2025 Seawork conference programme is focussed on decarbonisation with free to attend sessions that share insights and learnings on topical key themes at the forefront of discussions across the industry.

Roland Teixeira de Mattos, President, EOPSA, will be moderating the session on the latest developments in onshore power supply, with a panel of speakers including:

  • Leo Hambro, Commercial Director, Tidal Transit Limited
  • Lex Hanham, Business Development Manager, Associated British Ports
  • Andy Hurley, Director, Marine Zero
  • Chris Poyner, Head of Shore Power, ABB

The other sessions will tackle future fuels with case studies highlighting real world applications and industry learnings and how AI and autonomy is helping to optimise performance and deliver efficiencies across fleet technology.

The drive for decarbonation continues on the pontoons in 2025 with Damen showcasing one of its new all-electric tugs, the RSD-E Tug 2513. The first of these, known as ‘Sparky’ was delivered to Ports of Auckland, New Zealand in August 2022. In November 2022, this electric harbour tug was included on the 2022 TIME Best Inventions List. The zero emissions vessel can operate with a crew of just two or three persons. The RSD-E Tug 2513 can be fully charged in only two hours and can be out on the water for hours to assist up to four large vessels, putting her 70 tonnes bollard pull to use, before she needs to be recharged

Some of the other electric vessels being showcased on the pontoons at Seawork:

Electric Outboard – will be demonstrating the Momentum M10 on the water, the lightest 10kW 15hp electric outboard available.

RAD Propulsion – are showcasing the Odyssey Pursuit 560Z with the RAD 40 electric outboard, providing a silent ride with zero emissions. Equipped with a RAD 61kWh battery giving a range of up to 100Nm

Exhibitors at Seawork in the Electric Power category include:

  • Bluestrom, Electric thrusters, D6, Netherlands
  • Molabo, H26, Germany
  • Rim Drive Technology, Electric motors, G1, Netherlands
  • Vessev, Electric boats , E15, United States of America
